On the Baer extension problem for multidimensional linear systems

Within an algebraic analysis approach, the purpose of the paper is to constructively solve the following problem: given two fixed multidimensional linear systems S1 and S2, parametrize the multidimensional linear systems S which contain S1 as a subsystem and satisfy that S/S1 is isomorphic to S2. In order to study this problem, we use Baer’s classical interpretation of the extension functor and give an explicit characterization and parametrization of the equivalence classes of multidimensional linear systems S solving this problem. We then use these results to parametrize the equivalence classes of multidimensional linear systems S which admit a fixed parametrizable subsystem S1 and satisfy that S/S1 is isomorphic to a fixed autonomous system S2. We illustrate the main results by means of explicit examples of differential time-delay systems. Nous utilisons alors ces résultats pour paramétrer les classes d’équivalence des systèmes linéaires multidimensionnels S qui admettent un sous-système paramétrisable donné S1 et sont tels que S/S1 soient isomorphes à un système autonome donné S2. Nous illustrons les résultats importants par des exemples explicites de systèmes d’équations différentielles à retard. On quasi-baer modules

Let $R$ be a ring, $sigma$ be an endomorphism of $R$ and $M_R$ be a $sigma$-rigid module. A module $M_R$ is called quasi-Baer if the right annihilator of a principal submodule of $R$ is generated by an idempotent. It is shown that an $R$-module $M_R$ is a quasi-Baer module if and only if $M[[x]]$ is a quasi-Baer module over the skew power series ring $R[[x,sigma]]$.
